Mike Levin is an attorney running in an open seat and is ranked #1 most likely to win in California. The current seat-holder is Darrel Issa.
Acting on the climate crisis is Mike Levin's top priority. He has been involved in the green energy industry for several years. In order to fight climate change, Mike thinks we need to consider many ideas, including the one Citizens Climate Lobby proposed. That proposal (carbon fee and dividend) would apply a fee on carbon (carbon fee) starting at $10 a ton and rising over the years. It would then equally divide the money and give it to all Americans (dividend). He also supports further exploring cap-and-trade, which he says has worked well when implemented at the California level. He opposes renovating the natural gas powered Encina Power Station, and believes we should have all have sustainable transportation. Like the other candidates, Mike knows that acting on climate will not lead to job loss. He is endorsed by the Sierra Club and the League of Conservation Voters.
Mike Levin supports prioritizing homeless especially with seniors. He also supports providing homes for veterans in need. Mike also opposes Obama Care repeal.
Mike Levin knows that we need to reduce gun violence, especially after the recent school shootings. Right now, however, nothing is changing in Washington, DC. He is running for Congress to make sure that the people in charge understand the people. He is an active supporter of an assault weapons ban. He also supports expanding Brady background checks to all gun sales (including those made over the Internet and at gun shows). He was honored as a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate.
Mike Levin is a supporter of providing a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, especially as most of his family are immigrants that came to America not so long ago. He knows that they strengthen our economy and help us compete in the global market. He is a staunch opposer of Trump's wall. Not only that, Mike vigorously supported action taken by the Obama Administration in 2014 to protect undocumented immigrants with certain ties to the community. He will support any law to continue that policy. Finally, He knows that it is important that we treat immigrants with dignity.
